life lately.
wish lanterns, girls nights and takeout, amazing spring sunsets, prom. it's been a good two weeks and i'm happy that i've gotten most of it on camera. i also won three students emmys but i don't have that on camera. however, i did treat prom as my after party. when it rains, it pours, but luckily this is good and crazy rain.

a portrait of wednesday.
"she wanted to crawl into his pocket and be safe forever." -f. scott fitzgerald

i actually had to double check that today was indeed wednesday when i made the post title. wednesday looks like spring sunsets even though the ground is still blanketed in snow. wednesday looks like unfinished instagram walls. wednesday looks like acoustic taylor swift. wednesday looks like sitting in my bedroom with only one lamp on to enjoy all of the above.

thank you.
i just want to say thank you to all who have fought, are fighting, and will fight for our country on this memorial day. you are the reason we can live the way we do. thank you.
(and if anyone ever gets the chance to visit the 9/11 memorial in nyc, please do. i think i've said that before but seeing the pictures again makes me say it again. it's amazing.)

that's what's going on.
hey! you may have noticed i gave the blog a face lift, and i'm loving it. also, i haven't seen the sun in days, i just wrote a 244 page history report, and i'm seeing lady antebellum in concert tonight. so, until i have some more interesting pictures to post and stories to tell, enjoy this photo of the statue of liberty. that's what's going on.

vote!
i forgot to ask in my last post, please vote for my mom in this contest! it's for a benefit contest for lady antebellum, and they asked fans to design a poster! she's at number 11, SO close to the top 10! i know some of my readers have already voted, but if you haven't it would be greatly appreciated!

spring smells so good.
just my four favorite things: spring, instagram, my new glasses, and ed sheeran. this has been a true miscellaneous post.

raving.
have i raved yet on here about fernweh? if so, here i go again. fernweh is an online magazine run by some of the most creative, lovely, inspiring girls i know. seriously, everything they post is insanely beautiful.
and guess what? i write an article for them on travel, photography, and john green. you can head over to read it tomorrow, and while you're there, give some love to katie, libby, kendall, abbey, carlotta, and hannah! bookmark it as well, trust me, you won't regret it.
(p.s. you probably won't regret buying orange skinny jeans either. love.)

sugar high.
we went to a place where they make maple sugar. it's the cutest little place, and it's kind of a tradition to go each spring.
they have maple soft serve for a quarter. that's right folks, twenty-five cents. it's amazingly good.
they boil the sap in this huge machine in a room where the steam goes out the top, but it's still pretty toasty. the windows get all steamy and it smells like heaven.
(you can see the big machine and all the steam in the back!)
they serve mainly waffles and pancakes in the adjoining restaurant. for whatever reason, they brought us pickles to start. i love little places like that. it's just their thing.
two hours was worth the drive.

blackout.
i often find myself completely out of words when attempting to write. it could be anything, a birthday card, a thank you note, an essay, a blog post. pictures tell the stories for me, i'm so much better at that. that's why i love blackout poems. austin kleon's first caught my attention about a year ago and they've intrigued me ever since. i attempted my own the other day, and i'm in love. the words are put there for you to twist and combine to make usually nonsense but always fun little poems. i want to fill pages with these. (which is exactly what the above mentioned austin kleon did, and published a book of them. a must read!)

panacea.
you know you've spent too long at school when you start using vocab words as blog post titles. anyway, somewhere along the line, i came to believe tea was the panacea, the cure all. you know what? it kind of is.
